The Caroline County Bird Club salutes Mike Segar of Boy Scout Troop 165 for completing his Eagle Scout project!

The Caroline County Bird Club salutes Mike Segar of Boy Scout Troop 165 for completing his Eagle Scout project!
Mike worked with Maryland Environmental Service for permission to place a birding platform in the new Mid-Shore II Regional Landfill on River Road outside of Ridgely.  Mike then organized and oversaw the construction of the birding platform. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the platform September 11, 2013.  The landfill’s Operations Manager Eric Frase and other MES dignitaries were present along with Mike Segar, Scout Master Walt Palmer, Mike’s family and friends, and members of the Caroline County Bird Club.  Mike gave special thanks to Mr. Frase and MES for their permission and enthusiasm for the project, and to his team who helped him build the platform.  He credited Sue Simmons, Director of the Caroline County Recreation and Parks, who suggested this project and helped him make connections with MES.  He also expressed appreciation to both Choptank Supply and Denton Ace Hardware for their donations of materials.

Below our link to our Facebook page, you will find a link to information on how to get to the landfill and instructions for accessing the birding platform.
