Caroline County Bird Club Fall 2023 Schedule

 

Please join us.  All our events are free and open to the public!


Saturday, August 26, 2023: Pot Luck and  Bird Walk at Camp Mardella, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.  301 Deep Shore Road, Denton (just before you get to Martinak State Park).   The pavilion  is on the left hand side as you are going down the lane before you get to the main campus area.  

Saturday, Sept 9, 2023: Bird Walk with brief business meeting following at Marshy Hope Boardwalk.  Meet at the VFW boat ramp, 2630 Veterans Dr, Federalsburg at 8 am. Leaders: Debby Bennett and Robin Lahnemann. 

Saturday, Sept 16, 2023: Fall Bird Count.   Contact Debby Bennett at dabennett1996@gmail.com.

Sunday, Sept 24, 2023: Field Trip.  Bird Banding observation at Foreman’s Branch Bird Observatory.    8:00 AM.  Great for people of all ages. To register and for directions, contact Debby Bennett at dabennett1996@gmail.com. RESCHEDULED to Oct 1, 2023 at 8:30 am

Sunday, Oct 8, 2023:  Caroline’s Big Sit.  Location:  Adkins Arboretum’s Wetlands Overlook near the Visitors Center. Will run from 7:30 am to early evening for some owling. Dress comfortably, bring your binoculars, a chair to sit on, food and drink. 

Saturday, Oct 14, 2023: Special Program.  9 am business meeting followed by a 10 am special program co-sponsored with the Talbot Bird Club, featuring Colleen Webster as Rachel Carson. 
Location: Wharves of Choptank Visitor & Heritage Center, 3 Crouse Park Lane, Denton, MD.

Weekend of Oct 20-22:  not our program, but happening in Denton and open to the public. go to  www.campmardela.org/event-details/birding-retreat  for details. You can join the day trips for free.

Saturday, Nov 18, 2023: Program. 9 am. Presenter Jim Wilson will share stories about teaching kids about birds and nature at Kennard Elementary School for 11 years and the youth teams he’s taken to compete in the New Jersey Audubon World series of Birding over many years. Jim is a long time, active volunteer at the Adkins Arboretum leading bird and nature walks.
